01 / Strategy & Research
The first step in any project is to get a better understanding of the client. The value in doing this work before moving a single pixel is to establish a greater sense of trust and to show each client that I care about their business and long term success.
02 / UX Design & Interaction Design
The architecture of a system is equally, if not more, important than how it looks and works. I leverage design-thinking in every project to get to the best human centered solution to a challenge with data. I design experiences for the user, not for myself.
03 / Ui Design & Prototyping
While beautiful ui designs can be subjective depending on the viewer, I enjoy the challenge of creating universally beautiful designs that also leverage micro-interactions. With visual design and prototyping, I get a chance to delight the user aesthetics and motion.
04 / User Testing & Iteration
Creating something and putting it out into the world is very rewarding. However, creating, aggregating feedback, synthesizing it in a way that makes sense and iterating based on user needs is much more fulfilling. Learning to measure progress and iterate is important.
Growing up in Cuba, I was fascinated by magicians and how they are able to captivate their audience’s attention with ease. I dreamt of presenting to an audience something that is bizarre, yet impeccably beautiful and new.
This passion later developed into my love for communication which later led to me receiving a full-ride scholarship to the number one forensics speech and debate team in the nation. As a member of the speech team, I presented speeches to small, medium and large audiences while studying a BFA in design. After graduation, I realized that I could communicate my ideas thoroughly with my words and was also able to communicate them visually with my designs.
While I love communication and design, I was lacking the ability to build and share my ideas with the world. I then began to teach myself how to code so that I could empower myself to not only build, but to also establish a healthy relationship between myself and engineers when working on a project together.
Today, I focus my energy on learning as much as possible while maintaining a healthy balance between design, communication and front-end development. Having the ability to make a difference by building products that help people live a better life is magic.
